Manual tests in Confluence vs Jira Xray/Zephyr vs a native table — which do I need?
Use Test Perspective if test cases and executions should live on Confluence pages as a macro. Use Xray, Zephyr, or another Jira test app if you need Jira issue traceability, coverage, or a QA database. A native table or Confluence Database can hold a checklist; it is not the same as execution history, image paste, and cycle copy.
When Test Perspective
Section titled “When Test Perspective”- Insert
/test(Test Case and Execution) on a page and type steps like notes. - Attach images or video; paste into image cells with Ctrl+V.
- Copy the page with the dedicated copy command to start the next cycle with cleared results. Copying a page or the macro keeps the test content.
- Space-level columns, CSV import/export, print, reports across spaces.
- Data stays in the Confluence instance. Runs on Atlassian.

When a neighbor instead
Section titled “When a neighbor instead”- Jira test management (Xray, Zephyr, and similar): you need issues, coverage, and QA workflow in Jira. Test Perspective is not that class of product and does not claim to replace them.
- Native table / Database: a short checklist with no execution log, attachments-in-steps, or cycle copy.
What Test Perspective does not do
Section titled “What Test Perspective does not do”- Replace Xray / Zephyr / other Jira TM apps.
- Generate tests with AI as a shipped Marketplace feature (CSV export so you can paste into ChatGPT is documented; that is not in-app generation).
- Overlay an external TM database.
Do not say it is the only Confluence-native test app in the world. At most: on Marketplace Cloud, Jira-free Confluence test management is nearly alone (DC RY Testing and Compliance is a different hosting).
